Linfield's Champions League qualifier against FC Drita is OFF.

The Blues were due to face the Kosovan side in Nyon at 5pm (BST) this evening.

But just after 3.20pm UEFA announced that the game will not be taking place after a second player from Drita tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, UEFA said: "Following a decision taken by the Swiss health authorities in cooperation with UEFA to put the whole team of KF Drita (KOS) into quarantine after a second player from the Kosovo side had tested positive for COVID-19, the upcoming UEFA Champions League preliminary round match between KF Drita and Linfield FC (NIR) – scheduled for on 11 August at 18:00 CET in Nyon, Switzerland – cannot be played.

"The player, who tested positive yesterday (Monday 10 August) had previously produced a negative test for COVID-19 on Friday 7 August as part of the comprehensive testing system put into place by UEFA in accordance with the UEFA Return to Play Protocol and approved by the local authorities in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.

Mi sembrerebbe francamente inopportuno designare da quarto uomo in un turno di qualificazione di Champions un elemento che verrà dismesso 10 giorni dopo. Potrebbe esserci una deroga, le nuove norme entrano in vigore il primo di settembre.

Gara tosta per Doveri: sia le squadre greche che le squadre turche non sono mai facili da arbitrare: anche a livello internazionale gli vengono affidate delle belle fatte da pelare. Emblematica invece la designazione di Calvarese: premio finale oppure segnale che continuerà? Veramente interessante da capire...

Se oltre a Calva vedo anche Jack designato come IV inizio ad esultare.
